Hello Swype’rs and Swype’ettes! We’re just over a month into the release of Swype on Google Play, and so far we could not be more pleased with the reception: we just passed 500,000 downloads, we’re getting lots of great feature requests, and users around the world are helping our development teams narrow in on improvements and bug fixes.

To keep the ball rolling, we’ve just released Swype v1.5.6 on Google Play. This update includes new languages, bug fixes, and other optimizations. In particular:

–       We’ve added eight new languages! Afrikaans, Sesotho, Sundanese, Swahili, Xhosa, Zuluo, Javanese, and Irish

–       We removed the fade in/fade out animation in Dragon Dictation’s UI to speed up your user experience when dictating text…

–       HTC One users! We fixed a bug in the default email app where words would duplicate…

–       We increased the accuracy of next word predictions…

–       Hotwords are now available for users of Polish and Arabic languages…

–       We improved the French, German, Russian, Italian, and Spanish language databases and word modeling…

–       … and also included many other bug fixes and optimizations.

Because Swype is your keyboard for life, these updates apply to smartphone and tablet users alike – that means one download for all of your Android devices!

Like what you see? Head over to Google Play and download the latest version of Swype for your Android device!

Keep Swype’ing!
